Chelsea & Anthony: Kennywood Park & Rose Garden at Renziehausen Engagement Photos

Meet Chelsea & Anthony ❤️ I had the pleasure of taking their engagement photos at Kennywood Park and the Rose Garden at Renziehausen just a few weeks ago!

I have always wanted to take engagement photos at a theme park… so this was a session that I have been looking forward to for quite some time!

If you're from Pittsburgh, you're probably familiar with Kennywood! Chelsea & Anthony met while working as ride operators at Kennywood park a few years ago, so of course for their engagement session, we had to go back to where it all began!

Because the park is closed on Thursdays, we had the whole place to ourselves the evening of their session! It was so much fun to get to revisit all of the places they had frequented early in their relationship, and such a unique experience to get to take photos there!

We also stopped at the Rose Garden at Renziehausen for a few more photos in the glowy evening sunlight. I had never heard of this location before, but it certainly had some beautiful spots for us to work with! I think it worked really well that we paired it with another location, since it’s a bit on the smaller side!

Chelsea & Anthony, I am so excited to photograph your wedding day next year! A huge congratulations to you both on your engagement!!!

Jackie & Gerald: Book Inspired Pinehall at Eisler Farms Wedding

To Mordor and back, with Jackie & Gerald ❤️

From the green hills of the Shire to the wooded realm of Lothlórien, this wedding felt as if it were a fantasy straight out of the books Jackie & Gerald adore most!

Jackie & Gerald's wedding day at Pinehall at Eisler Farms was nothing short of a fairytale. The two made sure to incorporate so many special details - including their main overarching theme of books! Besides incorporating lots of beautiful vintage books into their decor, this pair incorporated some very subtle nods to one of their favorite series, Lord of the Rings - from signage to walking down the aisle music, to a personal message from Lord Denethor to Gerald (as Jackie's wedding gift to Gerald - the photos of his reaction are in the blog post below and are just the sweetest!).

We absolutely adored getting to spend the day celebrating this sweet, sweet pair! Their genuine hearts & kindness made our jobs so, so easy. We love you two! Congratulations on your wedding day, and on your marriage!

PS - thanks to Nicholas for his knowledge of LOTR, making this blog post possible ;)

PSS - I just have to add how much we LOVE photographing weddings at Pinehall at Eisler Farms! Not only is it a gorgeous venue with so many lovely photo spots, but it’s also located close to home, which is always fun!

Erin & Ben: Longue Vue Country Club Wedding Photos

You might remember Erin & Ben from their wintery engagement session earlier this year at The Frick! (Click here to check it out!). We went from one weather extreme (super cold!) for their engagement photos, to the other extreme (quite warm!) for their wedding day! But both days were just as delightful ❤️

Erin & Ben met through Ben's sister, who Erin was friends with before Erin & Ben ever started dating! On a beautiful summer weekend back in July, they said "I do" at Sacred Heart Church in Pittsburgh, then celebrated the night away at the beautiful Longue Vue Country Club. This day was a lovely dream from start to finish!

Congratulations on your wedding day, Erin & Ben!

Megan & Devon: The Gathering Place Wedding Photos

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of photographing Megan & Devon's travel-inspired wedding at The Gathering Place at Darlington Lake!

Megan started off the day getting ready at her childhood home, and their ceremony took place at St. Killian Parish in Cranberry Township. Their pup, Murphy, met us for a few photos after the ceremony (he also makes a surprise appearance on their cake! ) and after a quick rain shower, the skies parted as we drove to the Gathering Place in time for us to take some photos around their gorgeous property!

Megan & Devon had bagpipers during cocktail hour (Devon also plays the bagpipe!), and lots of travel themed decorations - including table numbers featuring all of the locations they've traveled to together! Devon's grandma baked their wedding cake (which was gorgeous!) and the evening went on with lots of dancing, chatting, and even with a few little spots of sunshine... which we took advantage of for a few photos!

Megan & Devon, thank you so much for having us a part of your wedding day. It was such an honor to get to celebrate alongside you!

Haley & John: Summer Pittsburgh Botanic Garden Wedding

Haley & John met in Panera Bread, of all places, while ordering their food! And a few weeks ago, they celebrated their marriage at the beautiful Pittsburgh Botanic Garden, surrounded by a small group of their closest friends & family during a GORGEOUS outdoor ceremony, followed by the sweetest reception!

If you’ve never been to the Pittsburgh Botanic Gardens, you might just be missing out! Not only is it a lovely reception venue, but it has gardens and trails (and a cute little shop/food spot!) where you could easily spend a whole day taking in the beauty of creation.

And when it comes to weddings… PBG knows how to do it! They have the prettiest ceremony backdrop, and lots beautiful backdrops for photos. Haley & John decided on a mid-day wedding featuring a brunch menu (DELISH, thanks to Hazelnut Catering!) and a very laid back atmosphere, which was so much fun and such a nice change of pace! They had the sweetest, most thoughtful details, too - both had lockets they wore on their person in memory of loved ones who had passed. Haley chose her veil (covered with gorgeous pearls!) as a nod to her mom’s wedding dress, which was also covered in pearls! Her something blue was her toenails. They had everyone sign a vintage record as their guest book and had John’s grandfather’s record player displaying it, and they had signature cocktails named after their cats!

Because they opted for a shorter, earlier reception, they opted to use more of their photo coverage towards portraits of the two of them… and THAT was so much fun, too! We were able to hit so many beautiful spots around PBG, including the Japanese Gardens, the fields, a few beautiful pathways, and the cozy inside of the welcome center! They even take you to all the spots on a golf cart… which was a blessing for such a hot day! We were also able to use the last bit of our time to travel to Allegheny Commons Park on the North Side of Pittsburgh for a few extra portraits!

But above all of the meaningful details and the pretty backdrops, what stuck out the most to me on Haley & John’s wedding day was their genuine joy with becoming husband and wife. There were many happy tears shed by loving family & friends (and by the bride & groom themselves), beautiful, heartfelt toasts given, and just an overall atmosphere of love. What a joy to be a part of!

Haley & John, a HUGE congrats to you on your wedding day! Thank you so much for letting us celebrate with you! ❤️

Imagine the perfect June summer day - the sun is shining, it's 70°F - not too hot, but oh-so beautiful. Bridget & Sean truly had the most perfect weather (and day!) for their wedding!

Their ceremony took place at Duquesne University, and their reception took place at the iconic Sheraton Station Square Hotel! Their families & bridal party were a BLAST to work with, and it was just an all around amazing day celebrating an amazing, fun couple!

Abby & Austin: Mellon Park Engagement Photos

Abby & Austin currently live in Seattle, but came back to Abby's home town of Pittsburgh for their engagement session just a few weeks ago!

These two are super smart and super fun to be around! It was so easy to tell how much they love, admire, and respect each other just from the 90 minutes we were privileged to spend with them. And that made taking their photos so, so easy!

Mellon Park was looking extra beautiful the night of their session, too, with the most beautiful light! It is always a great go-to at any time of year for a variety of backdrops… it is it’s own little oasis within the city!

Congratulations on your engagement, Abby & Austin! We cannot wait for your wedding day later this year!!!

Martha & Sam: Sunrise Mellon Park Engagement Photos

An empty Mellon Park can be tough to come by... unless you have your session at 6:30AM on a Saturday!

Martha & Sam are two brave souls who woke up extra early a beautiful summer Saturday for their gorgeous sunrise engagement session! And I know that sounds crazy, but it was SO worth it. We had the most beautiful morning light, and if you’re local to the Pittsburgh area and have ever been to Mellon Park on a week day or weekend evening... you know how crazy this park gets with photo sessions! So it was a treat to get to meander our way through the park without people!

Martha & Sam met a few years ago through their bible study group while they were both in college. Sam proposed at Kennywood (a true Pittsburgh proposal if you ask me!), as a nod towards their mutual love for theme parks. And they were a joy to spend an early morning with!

Congratulations to you both, Martha & Sam! We are so excited to be a part of your wedding day!!!

Maria & Matt: Elks Lodge #776 Up-Themed Wedding Photos

You are my greatest adventure.”

If you are a fan of the movie, “Up,” you’re going to love Maria & Matt’s wedding!

You might recognize some hints of the classic animated film woven into the details of Maria & Matt's wedding day, including some grape soda pins on the bouquets and boutonnières, colorful florals, a cloud-covered cake, and the most beautiful and intricate card box house, designed by the father of the bride after the house in the iconic film (you have to see it!!). As a Disney lover myself… it was such a treat to get to photograph their colorful & playful wedding day! You might even want to check out their engagement photos from last spring if you’d like to see even more fun Up details!

We had such a sweet time with these two and their friends & family on their wedding day mid-May! Their wedding took place at the Elks Lodge #776, right across the street from Washington & Jefferson College… which made for the most beautiful photo backdrop for all of their portraits!

One thing that made this wedding extra sweet about this wedding day - I grew up across the street from Matt's family! I babysat for them and worked with many of the family members, and it was an absolute honor to get to document this beautiful day.

Congratulations to Maria & Matt on your wedding day and on your newest adventure! ❤️
